Albert‘s mission is to foster a software platform which uses big data and machine learning to drastically accelerate the invention of new formulations and novel materials. We are growing quickly and looking for a Chemical Data Specialist to drive machine learning and digitization initiatives. 

Albert is a technical product used by chemists, scientists and material engineers. To be successful in this role you will will leverage you chemical background and expertise and work cohesively with engineering and product teams to develop solutions that enable faster innovation in the lab. 

You will become an expert on Albert data, communicate product requirements, and drive projects to completion. This will require working with engineers to solve challenging data problems, analyzing outputs and continuously iterating to completion. You will be responsible for performance of these products and continuously monitoring via dashboards and offline analysis.

A successful candidate will have high attention to detail, an appreciation for data integrity, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional leadership to deliver results.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with annotation, data science, and product teams to assess machine learning model outputs and identify improvements in order to quickly iterate on solutions that drive innovation in the chemicals industry
  • Develop dashboards and present insights to product leadership
  • Ensure alignment on product objectives and requirements across the data science and annotation teams
  • Utilize your background and expertise to define processes, lead initiatives and ensure quality outputs across annotation efforts
  • Demonstrate proven success as both an independent performer and a contributing member of ahigh-performing team; show the ability to deep dive and develop innovative ideas for process challenges
  • Drive first of its kind digitization of chemical documentation and standards. Become the Albert SME on chemical standards, compliance documentation, lab processes, etc
  • Will be go-to person for all global chemical standards such as ISO, ASTM and help to build the standards repository within Albert

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or similar
  • Experience working in labs
  • Python, SQL knowledge
  • Strong interest in ML/DS
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and distilling into key insights and improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with an aptitude for quickly learning systems
  • Desire to automate out inefficiencies when applicable
  • Strong communication and presentation skills – can explain complicated topics and ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong attention to detail
